This offer is subject to change and subject to MASCA Approval.  If host is not an affiliate, all profits will be returned to MASCA.  Amounts to be reviewed annually. $500.00 maximum per show weekend.

You'll find it isn't difficult, and doesn't have to be expensive to host a MASCA show.  You don't have to be a MASCA affiliate club - just a group of individuals can host a show.

How to:  (click on links for sample documents)

  1. Get a group of folks together that want to have a show in your area.  Ideally, you would have about 12 or more dogs expected to attend.

  2. Read MASCA's Show Rules.

  3. Inform the MASCA Board that you are planning an event.  Give basic information such as date/time/location/# of events, etc.

  4. Find a location.  Note:  Save money by renting the facility in the evening after another event, hosting at a free park, or have it in your own back yard.  Reserve the location.

  5. Find judges.  You can use any herding judge from either AKC/UKC or ASCA.  You can first send an e-mail, and then follow up by calling.

  6. Send out Judges Contracts.

  7. Create Premium.  Create Entry Form.  Allow about 1 1/2 hours per show.  CenMASC likes having 2-3 shows in the afternoon.  If it starts around 1 or 2pm, it will be over early enough for many folks to drive there and back without a hotel stay.

  8. Send Premium to MASCA Board for approval.

  9. E-mail MASCA Secretary to send 1st-4th place ribbons.  PROVIDED FREE BY MASCA!!!  These can be used for both conformation and performance events.  Non-Regular ribbons are provided as well for 1st-4th place.

  10. Fill out and send in MASCA Proof of Insurance at least 3 weeks before the event.

  11. Order Rosettes for:
Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Best of Winners, Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, Reserve Winners Dog, Reserve Winners Bitch, Best of Breed Puppy, Best of Opposite Sex Puppy, Best of Breed Altered (if offered) Approximate Cost = $35.00/Show. See MASCA's Show Rules for details.  To save money, you might want to do Certificates instead of rosettes.
    Suggested Company - Hodges Badge

  12. The show Secretary should print out the Show Report & Judges Books and Armbands for the show.  Also, on a poster board write the order of classes and the entrant's armband number, (i.e. 2-4 month Dog - #5, #17, #25).  When folks check in, have them check the poster board for accuracy.  Scratch off classes as they are completed, then everyone will know exactly where you are in the show, and when they will enter.

  13. Send Show Report to the MASCA Show Chair

  14. Send Results to the Editor of MASCA Monthly

  15. Send Receipts to the MASCA Board for approval

If you are interested in co-hosting a show with CenMASC, please contact Connie Brogan. If you want have questions about hosting a show, contact Angela Ogle, 219.465.1624 or minis@wigglebuttaussies.com

CenMASC has really enjoyed having our own MASCA shows.  It feels good to have our own shows, as the money goes to our affiliates and our charities of choice.  The money is reinvested into the mini aussies - for example, 2011 Nationals.

Host your own shows!  It's a great way to hang out with others that love their dogs as much as you do.
